Code of Conduct

The Spirit of Social Competition

Social and corporate sport played by adults is a unique situation involving players from a variety of backgrounds, with varying levels of athletic ability and competitive instinct. It is important for all players to approach the game with the following points in mind:
  • The competition is provided for the enjoyment of all players.
  • Match officials are there to provide an environment where all players can enjoy the experience.
  • Accept that you will be playing with and against some players with greater ability than you, and some with lesser ability. Treat them all with equal respect.
  • Be competitive but keep a sense of humour and a sense of perspective.
  • To a large degree the enjoyment you derive from the competition is up to you.

The Code

ALL PLAYERS IN ALL SCORELINE SPORTS ACTIVITIES MUST AGREE TO ADHERE TO THE FOLLOWING:
  • Play by and adhere to the rules.
    Deliberate cheating will not be accepted.
  • Value safety, fair play and the welfare of all participants above competitive advantage.
    Remember it is only a game - All players and officials must give priority to the wellbeing of all participants.
  • Accept the authority of match officials.
    The decisions of umpires, referees and match officials are final. All officials are to be treated with respect. Arguing with or criticizing match officials during a game, or constant questioning of decisions is not acceptable.
  • Do not use abusive language.
    The following are not acceptable:
    • Use of foul or insulting language towards match officials, other players or spectators.
    • "Sledging", or any form of denigrating comments including but not restricted to: racist, sexist or other insults.
    • Denigrating the ability of other players.
    • Persistent use of audible foul language in any context.
  • Control your temper.
    The following are not acceptable:
    • Dangerous or overly aggressive play.
    • Fighting.
    • Intimidation or threats towards other players, officials or spectators.
  • Play Sober.
    Persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs must not enter the playing area.
  • Play for enjoyment.
    Keep in mind that you are playing for enjoyment, as are others – your actions should not interfere with the enjoyment of others.
In registering to play in any Scoreline Sports event or fixture competition, you are agreeing to abide by this Code of Conduct. Match officials will be instructed to take action against any participant that breaches this Code.
